Precinct
Election Officials
Each
polling place is staffed with a Chief Judge, two Judges, and appointed
Assistants. The Judges are recommended by the political party and
appointed by the Board of Elections. Even though the parties recommend
Precinct Election Officials, they must serve all voters. In order
to be eligible a person must be a registered voter and meet all
the requirements of NCGS 163-41.
If
you would like to serve as a precinct election official, meet all
the legal requirements, and the Board of Elections appoints you
to serve as a precinct election official, you must swear (or affirm)
to uphold the duty of that office. You must also attend mandatory
training sessions prior to each election. For more information,
contact your party chairman or the Board of Elections office.
