The Duplin County Water Department is responsible for the county
water system which presently has 13 ground water wells and 4
booster pump stations that pump water throughout the county. On an average
day, the water department delivers approximately 1.3 million gallons of water
to over 6,200 customers. The Duplin County water system is permitted to operate
by the State of North Carolina under two Public Water System I.D. numbers
(04-31-090 and 04-31-085). This insures that the water is treated and tested
in compliance with state and federal laws.
The Duplin County Water Department is staffed by water technicians, as well as the water system assistant supervisor and the water system supervisor. The office staff consists of an office supervisor and various office personnel. The department's constant goal is to provide customers with a safe and dependable supply of water. The water department is committed to ensuring the quality of water as required by state and federal laws.
The billing process for the purchase of water from the Duplin
County Water system is as follows. Meters are read by the 28th
day of every month. Bills are sent out to customers no later
than the 5th day of each month. Water Payments can be made by Bank Draft, Visa or Master Card, Cash, Check, and Money Order. You can make payment in person at the Water Department and there is also a drop box for Checks and Money Orders only, located in front of the County Administration Building at 224 Seminary Street in Kenansville. Accounts not paid in full by
the due date are subject to service being discontinued on the
11th day of the following month. If the water is turned off
for nonpayment, a reconnect fee of $40.00, and a $50.00 deposit
if applicable, plus the entire amount of the latest bill shall
be paid before water service is reinstated.
