DUPLIN COUNTY'S HURRICANE OPHELIA ACTION PLAN
5:00 a.m. Open Emergency Operations Center - partially staffed

5:00 p.m. Open six (6) shelters:
B. F. Grady Elementary – Located approximately ¼ mile West of Kornegay on NC 11 and 903 Highway – just West of the NC 11 Intersection North Duplin Elementary – Located at 157 North Duplin School Road – approximately 3 miles East of Faison on W NC 403, between Edwina Kornegay Road and White Oak Bridge Road
James Kenan High School – Located at 1241 NC 24 and 50 Hwy – approximately 6 miles East of Kenansville and 3 miles West of Warsaw
Beulaville Elementary – Located at 38 Lyman Road – approximately ¼ mile South of the NC 24 and Lyman Road intersection which is on the East side of Beulaville
Chinquapin Elementary – Located at 3894 S NC 50 Highway – approximately ½ mile South of the intersection of NC 41 and 50 on the East side of Chinquapin
Wallace Elementary – Located at 4260 S NC 11 Highway – approximately ½ mile South of the NC 41 and NC 11 intersection – just west of the Food Lion Strip mall and approximately 3 miles west of Interstate 40 off of NC 41
Should plan on shelters being open approximately 48 hours based on current hurricane speed and direction information. We can also expect the Southeastern portion of the county to receive the highest winds --- currently estimated to be in the 70+ MPH sustained range.
All Duplin County Schools are closed on Tuesday (September 13 th ) and Wednesday (September 14 th ).
Duplin County offices will be closed on Wednesday, September 14, 2005. Department heads will be contacted on additional closings/delays.
