It's Official…Duplin County Events Center is Open for Business

Representative Mike McIntyre cut the ribbon on November 14 to officially “open” the Duplin County Events Center after a dedication ceremony was held for Duplin Commons in the Duplin County Agribusiness Building. The program resonated a theme that “it truly is a great [day] to be in Duplin County.”

Representative McIntyre recognized the facility as a “result of the spirit of sacrifice, spirit of vision and energy, and a vision of looking ahead. The vision has come true. We can see it, feel it and touch it. This is a great day to celebrate.”

Both facilities are already in use and for the first eight weeks hosted events from 67 different groups with 2,100 people in attendance.

Immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony, Frank Miller, representing Duplin County Veterans presented Duplin County Board of Commissioners Chairman, Reginald Wells an American Flag. The flag raising inside the Events Center was then followed with all in attendance being led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tours were available of both buildings after the ceremonies where homemade refreshments were enjoyed. The Duplin County Events Center also held an Open House Monday and Tuesday evenings for the general public to tour the multi-faceted facility now available to serve the entertainment needs of Duplin's citizens.
