Opportunities, Progress and State-of-the-Art were just a few adjectives in the air Wednesday evening as the Kenansville Town Board Members and their guests were given an on-site tour of the Duplin Commons Project. Representatives from Duplin Commons Steering Committee hosted a tour of the Duplin Commons Multi-purpose Events Center . The Town Board received an overview of the facility's design, seating capacity, storage area, parking, concession opportunities, venue opportunities and construction status.
Ed Emory , County Extension Director, along with Robb Wells, Tourism Director presented facts and figures explaining the positive economic impact this Project could have in Kenansville and surrounding areas in Duplin County.
During the discussion following the tour, Town Attorney Charles Ingram summed it up with this. “I love Kenansville, and I love Duplin County and am excited to have a facility like this in our community. Mayor Betty Long agreed saying, “I could see where this will be a WIN-WIN situation for the Town as well as the County if we work together.”
Duplin Commons is a planned 126 acre site located just outside of Kenansville…… which includes a 32,950 sq. ft. Agricultural Office Building which will house Cooperative Extension, Farm Service Agency and Soil and Water Conservation Service; and a 59,502 sq. ft. Multipurpose Events Center.
