Marriage Records
The Duplin County Register of Deeds Office has a record of all marriage licenses that have been issued in Duplin County since 1868. In that year, a new North Carolina Constitution transferred the duty of recording marriages from the Clerk of Court to the Register of Deeds and also required a license to be issued instead of a bond. While there is a record of all the marriages licenses that have been issued since 1868, numerous original marriage certificates issued prior to 1902 are missing.
