Facility Services

Purpose:
Is responsible for planning, directing, and providing cost effective maintenance, repair, and minor construction for multiple facilities occupied by county employees.

General Services:

The Duplin County Maintenance Department consists of 5 maintenance employees. They are responsible for the maintenance of approximately 60 buildings and surrounding grounds. The department is also responsible for working with various department heads to determine renovation and repair needs as well as working with outside vendors to solicit proposals/bids for projects. It is also responsible for upkeep of all heating and cooling systems and thousands of lights throughout the county buildings.

Our county buildings have approximately 250 heat pumps or gas pack units. The Courthouse has 2 natural gas furnaces and 1-hundred-ton chiller. Also the county has approximately 45 fan-coil heat air conditioner units and 4 central station climate changes. At the Central Plant there are 2 boilers with 2 cooling towers. There are also over 300 air filters in these units that have to be changed regularly.
